THE LIFE I AM TRYING TO LIVE
Live to 100 on a Budget
Long life begins with the ordinary day in front of me.
100 → 135
More years worth living.
I began with a practical question: how can I build a healthier, longer life on a real budget? My far-horizon aspiration is to reach 135. That is a personal hope, with no promise that any routine can deliver it.
The project is about having the capacity to enjoy life, learn, create, care for people, and keep contributing. I want a system simple enough to repeat while living an ordinary life.

WHERE THE CONVERSATION STARTED
Use the resources actually available.
My early personal grocery target was about $150 a month, with a tighter month around $100. Those were snapshots of my circumstances. They are not current grocery-price quotes or a claim that every person's nutritional needs can be met for that amount.
Staples that work together
Oats, rice, beans, lentils, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions, frozen vegetables, and bananas. Familiar ingredients that can become different meals.
Food I enjoy
Peanut butter, salmon, chicken when it is on sale, and occasional red meat. The goal was useful food I would actually eat.
Preparation with flexibility
Ten meal containers, four breakfast jars, and ingredients that could fit the household's changing meals. I wanted a repeatable system with room to adapt.
Four jars, a place to begin.
The breakfast conversation settled on overnight oats: a half cup of oats and three-quarters cup of whole milk per single jar, kept refrigerated. Cinnamon vanilla, mocha, banana caramel, and banana poppy seed were the flavor choices. They are personal recipes, not a longevity treatment.
This page summarizes the recorded budget project. It is not a complete verbatim transcript of the earlier conversations.
MIND · BODY · DAILY LIFE
A day I can repeat.
Move
Home strength work, stretches, walking, dancing, and time outdoors. Build from actual ability and available time.
Recover
Give sleep, rest, and appropriate preventive care a deliberate place. A long plan needs a sustainable day.
Stay engaged
People, music, curiosity, creativity, and useful work belong in the picture. I want the years to mean something.
For general adult guidance, the CDC describes at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week and muscle-strengthening activity on two days, with alternatives and adaptations. Individual care belongs with qualified health professionals.
THE LONGER VIEW
Care for the life. Prepare the legacy.
My lifespan aspiration belongs to me. The 105-year Veritas vision concerns institutions, successors, and responsibility beyond one life. Both ask me to take the present seriously.
